Attractions Pristine beaches, top-notch accommodations, and crystal-clear
waters are just some of the things that make the Caribbean an idyllic honeymooner's
paradise. But with so many islands to choose from, planning your vacation can
be a bit overwhelming. No matter which island(s) you select, you can't go wrong
enjoying one of these irresistible Caribbean activities: golfing, snorkeling,
scuba diving, cruising, and lying on the beach. Scuba Diving Scuba diving is one
of the Caribbean's most popular activities. You
can find great spots on many of the islands, but the diving in Grenada is some
of the best, and boasts the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean (as well as an
underwater volcano). Worried that you're not qualified to dive? Don't fret. With
PADI instructors on the island, anyone can try it as long as they are fairly fit
and can swim. Whether you choose to drift over coral gardens, or explore the wrecks
of the Bianca C, the 30-100-foot visibility of Grenada's waters is great for all
skill levels. The underwater scenery off St
Lucia is near Oscar-worthy. The eight principal islands of Turks and Caicos boast
a living coral-reef system that provides perfect diving conditions. Snorkeling
Strapping on a tank isn't your bag, but you'd still love to see your share of
sea life? Snorkeling can be an ideal alternative. From walking out of your hotel
and straight into the water, to pre-arranged dives guided by pros, there are a
plethora of great spots to get your flippers wet. The most popular site on Grenada
is situated at Moliniere point, and only accessible by boat. It usually takes
about 12 minutes to get there from the Grand Anse beach, and offers excellent
snorkeling. The reef in this area comes to within six feet of the surface, and
it's in a sheltered location where the water is usually quite calm and clear.
Most of the local dive establishments frequent this area so you can easily get
aboard one of their boats for a 1.5-hour snorkeling trip.
Cruising If you'd rather be on top of the water than below it, the Caribbean offers
fabulous cruising, sailing, windsurfing, yachting and kayaking. What could be
more glamorous than cruising the islands in a yacht? Aruba's Palm Beach and Eagle
Beach both stretch for some seven miles, and the world famous Fishermans Huts
attracts thousands of windsurfers annually for some of the best sail boarding
conditions on the globe. Jamaica offers bamboo rafting, while St. Barts' champagne-swilling
and caviar-nibbling set enjoy the usual Caribbean rainbow of water sports, including
catamaran rentals. As for sports, St Lucia offers water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing,
and deep-sea fishing. St. Vincent is the largest island, and its tropical splendors
make the perfect setting for yachting and sailing. search
