What to look for when planning a child friendly wedding:

Couples need to choose carefully when planning a trip with kids, especially if the destination is Africa. Many game lodges, safari lodges and tented camps do not allow children below twelve for safety reasons. Amongst the Indian Ocean Islands - Mauritius, Seychelles, Réunion and Madagascar there are hotels and resorts not suitable for young children where they may get bored or feel uncomfortable.

Our portfolio is heavily focussed on properties which are safe and entertaining for kids, where staff are equipped to assist children and look after them whilst parents can enjoy a holiday. In South Africa we recommend lodges preferably in malaria free areas such as the Madikwe Reserve, Addo Elephant Park, Pilanesberg National Park. These areas are suitably rich with wildlife, fauna and flora and yet also have luxury game lodges for families. For the Indian Ocean Islands we suggest choosing Mauritius or Réunion island over Madagascar and Seychelles as these islands have better equipped resorts, all inclusive resort deals, are easily accessible.

It is therefore obvious that a safari is the perfect family holiday. Gone are the days when children and safaris simply did not mix. For parents who prefer not to give their children anti-malarial drugs, there are several lodges in South Africa's malaria-free areas, although with the new wonderdrug, Malarone, the problems associated with prophylactics are much reduced.
