The largest ever translocation of game occurred when 10 000 animals of 27 species were moved to Madikwe in Operation Phoenix. These included the big five and other endangered species such as the Wild Dog and Cheetah. You can now be a part of this success story.

Lodges -

Jaci's Lodge - Situated in an ideal spot, Jaci's Safari Lodge overlooks an established waterhole that is well used by many of the 27 species of game and 340 species of birds found here. Jaci's main lodge is open plan and curved around a huge termite mound. It is decorated with Jaci's outrageous flair, incorporating colour and African artefacts in a novel way. The charming bedrooms are a mixture of stone and canvas with huge tented windows and a cool thatched roof. Each en-suite bathroom contains a twosome 'rock bath' and outdoor 'safari shower'. Early morning and evening game drives or walks are the highlight of your stay at Jaci's Safari Lodge. Between times you can lounge around the pool, paddle your own canoe on the Marico River, lie in a hammock or sip ice cold drinks while watching the birds, butterflies and animals at the waterhole.

Thakadu - Thakadu River Camp is set along the banks of the Marico River in the eastern sector of the Madikwe Game Reserve. This safari camp in Madikwe Game Reserve has 12 tented suites, with lovely views over the Marico River. Thakadu is a wonderful community based camp. The main area comprises of an open plan lounge, dining and reception area, with the pool and bar area offering views of the gully and river to the north. A traditional ‘lapa’ falls within an area of natural riverine forest. The décor of the camp emphasises the Afro-Asian safari ambience with the natural stone, fibres, cloth and carpets as well as metal and wood.
