Nosy Be island is situated eight kilometres off the north-west coast of Madagascar and has about 60 000 inhabitants. The volcanic island has an area of 300 km˛. Several smaller islands are located nearby, including Nosy Komba, Nosy Mitsio, Nosy Sakatia and Nosy Tanikely. The island's main town is Hellville.
